Max/MSP

I ported the pd patches from Andy Farnell’s excellent book Designing Sound to Max.

Designing Sound: Artificial Sounds – Max patches

Designing Sound: Idiophonics – Max Patches

Designing Sound: Nature – Max Patches

Designing Sound: Machines – Max Patches

Designing Sound: Lifeforms – Max Patches

Designing Sound: Mayhem – Max Patches

Designing Sound: Science-Fiction – Max Patches

These abstractions focus on techniques for machine listening.

  • hh.ramper: based on George Lewis‘s abstractions for parsing live input. Ramps smoothly between input values. The result can be thought of as the ‘tendency’ of the input. (hh.ramper replaces the older ramper object)

  • hh.leaky: based on ideas introduced to me by Joel Ryan. hh.leaky allows you to treat an input like an energy source: high values pass through unchanged but then are regularly decremented until a value higher than the current state is input.(hh.leaky replaces the older leaky object)

Nord Modular

I use the Nord Micro Modular as an insanely powerful stomp-box, so most of my patches focus on audio processing rather than synthesis.

  • Modulation Patches: these patches cross-modulate two mono signals in various ways. I developed them to use with shortwave radio signals. (6 patches: Radio Bandpass, Radio Delay, Radio Distortion, Radio RingMod, Radio VocalFilter, Radio Vocoder)

  • Harmonic Singing: adds harmonic-like tones to input audio
